SCARED AT AUTO-BUGGY UPSET AND BROKEN.
Clell Clark, a young man working for Carr Bros., west of town, drove up in front of Nowels’ restaurant about 8 o’clock Sunday evening and got out to go in the restaurant to buy some candy for two young ladies whom/he left in the buggy. While he was inside Jack Montgomery turned the corner by the K. of P. building at a rather swift clip in Delos Thompson’s automobile, coming east. It is said there were no lights on the machine—though this might, have made no difference—and the horse took fright, turned around abruptly and upset buggy and young ladies in the street. It then ran east to the corner of the public square when it collided with a telephone pole, tearing the buggy up quite badly. The rig was a new one and Jack was asked to settle the damages, but we have, not learned whether a satisfactory adjustment of the matter has been reached or not. Fortunately the young ladies, Misses Cena Carr and Jessie Knox, were not injured in being dumped out so unceremoniously.
