Governor Deneen has appointed Martin Bolt, a miner of Spring Valley, secretary of the state mining board. Miss Nancy Miller, a Pittsburg waitress, was stabbed seven times with a butcher knife by Walter Howard, whom she had jilted, and died. An unidentified woman set fire to the abandoned factory building of the Canton Glass company of Marion, Ind.
