HE MAKES THE DOUGH.

A friend of The Democrat hands us the following: There was a man in Boomtown that wasn’t very wise, he started into business, but he wouldn’t advertise. He said he knew the people were always sure to find his store well filled with bargains, and him “the man behind.” But he didn’t think it business to throw his cash away; no one read advertisements, is what he used to say, and so in vain he waited for the customers to come till bis goods got old and musty and the whole thing went to “bum.” Moral—ls you want the people’s patronage, advertise and tell them so, for the man who pays the printer is the man who makes the dough.
