DEATH OF MRS. DAVID HILTON.
Mrs. Emily J. Hilton, wife of David Hilton died at seven o’clock Friday evening, July 13th. at their home at the corner of Franklin and Main streets. She had been sick for two weeks with kidney trouble and muscular rheumatism. Her maiden name was Williamson and she was born in Phoenixville, Chester County, Penn., October 22, 1830, and her age was therefore 75 years, nine months and 21 days. She was married to David Hilton at Pheonixville, March 12, 1856, and therefore lived with him over fifty years. Of four children born to them one died in childhood one, their son George, died in August of last year, and two daughters, Mrs. Sadie White, of Chicago, and Mrs. Alma Harrington of Demotte, still survive, as also does her husband. They moved west soon after their marriage, and in this state and Illinois have ever since made their home. They have lived in Rensselaer 12 years, and previous to that lived on the Thompson & "Yeoman farm,near Pleasant Ridge, for nine years. Previous to coming to this county they lived at Nauvoo, in White county, and there she united with the Free Will Baptist church, under the ministry of Rev. B. F. Ferguson, now of our city. Later, being where there was no church of her chosen denomination, she united with the M. E. church, and remained a faithful Christian until her death. The funeral was held Monday, at two o’clock p. m. at the F. W. Baptist church by Rev. Ferguson, and interment made in Weston cetaetery. There will be do advances in our prices on fall clothing.
