DARROCH FOR CONGRESS.

The Democrats of the Tenth District Have Nominated Him. The Democrats of the Tenth congressional district met in convention at Michigan City on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock to nominate a candidate for representative. The meeting organized by electing James F. Gallagher, of Michigan City, chairman and George Roby, of Fowler, secretary. An address of welcome was given by Martin Krueger, of Michigan City. The attendance was smaller than was expected and there was a lack of enthusiasm. It was understood that the names of several candidates would be presented to the convention, but when the time came, only one name, that of William Dorroch, of Kentland, was presented, and he was given the nomination by acclamation. There seemed to be an impression that the convention would be asked to endorse an independent candidate, but this question was settled by the Laporte county delegation before the convention met. That county said that it would not stand for such a proposition as it would jeopardize its county ticket. The matter was permitted to drop there and was not mentioned in the convention.
