Lake County Star: It is the intention of John Brown & Son to raise seven hundred acres of corn this season on their Kankakee ranch, and nearly all of it is now planted. Water is no longer a menace, but the drouth recently looked a little dangerous for a time. The Kankakee Valley will no doubt blossom all along the line this season, and there is great difference in the price of those lands now and fifteen years agoMr. Robert Barhite, general agent of the Michigan Home Colony Co., is here for a short time in the interests of his company. They have heard of his doings here and have no use for him. He had not paid for a tombstone placed at his first wife’s grave there, and the makers recently removed it from the cemetery because of nonpayment.
