TOUCHES THE HEART’S CHORD.

Governor Beckham of Kentucky Makes of Home Coming Week a Tuneful Harp of Sentiment—A Beautiful Proclamation. Gov. J. C. W. Beckham has issued a Home Coming proclamation to all absent eons and daughters of Kentucky. It has been sent broadcast over the United States and into many foreign countries. The proclamation especially refers to the Home Coming Week in Louisville, June 13-17. Governor Beckham begins: “As the fond parent yearns for the return of an absent child, so does your mother Commonwealth rejoice in the prospect of bringing you back, even for a visit, to the Old Kentucky Home.” He announces that the old dinner horn that in the days of yore told of the approaching meal has been taken down from the wall, and that there issues from its sonorous and hospitable mouth a trumpet call reaching the remotest corners of the earth, and breaking into the ear of every homesick Kentuckian the musical and irresistible appeal that he drop all else and forthwith begin his pilgrimage back to his native heath. Governor Beckham says that a joyous welcome awaits the Kentucky family; that feasts and festivals have been prepared to gladden the hearts of all the State’s children; that peace and plenty shall be theirs. Concluding, Governor Beckham states that by thd authority of the parent which Kentucky claims over all her children, even unto the third and fourth generation, he commands each and every former Kentuckian, “whetherseparated from us by imaginary State lines or broad seas, to come back home; if he be at the plough, the forge, the counting room, tire business office, or in whatever employment, let him for the time cease his work and return home. Men, women and children who possess the priceless heritage of having a drop of Kentucky blood in their veins, must obey these commands and fail not to be with us during this gala period.” Of all the cakes that Granny bakes give me the grundens bread Eight men and two little boys. If I had the wings of a dove how swiftly 1 would fly, to Roberts’ Implement House and a buggy I would buy, all high class goods at Roberts.
