WISE COUNSEL TO YOUNG MEN.
The following wise counsel from a well meaning exchange is well worth the most thoughtful consideration of the class to whom it is addressed: “So, young man, if the crowd you go with smokes, considers it manly to swallow alcoholic liquors, profane the name of their maker or tell smutty stories to one another, be original and quit the whole business; show them that your backbone is made of sterner stuff than India rubber, and that too much of the red blood of your forefathers flows through your veins to permit you to be a slave to any indulgence whatever, simply because the other fellows do it. Show the world that you know what is right, and that you dare to do it. Your companions will laugh at you perhaps, but persevere, and the time will come when those same fellows will admire your stamina, and you yourself will rejoice that you had the courage to do what you thought was best.”
