CHICAGO TOLERABLY QUIET
atrlk* Mottam Nearly at a Staaditlll - One ■ Small Walk-Oat ~ Wreck lag Crew” Indicted ■ No Referendum. Chicago, June I.—Btrlke matters are tolerably quiet and violence is less in evidence than at any time since the strike began. There wan one walk-out of teamsters—a dozen employed by the Weaver Coal company refusing to deliver coal to “struck” houses. Four members of the wrecking crew—James Collins, Michael Reichert. Frank Wahl and John H. Dqherty—who plotted to “do up” W. E. Kills, barn boss for the Wells-Fargo Express company, have been Indicted by the grand Jury for conspiracy. Levy Mayer, the Employers’ association attorney, declares that the express companies are absolutely determined on not re-employing any of their striking drivers. Shea, the teamsters’ leader, declares there Is no provision in the constitution of bis union for a referendum on calling the strike off. Alderman Dixon was examined before Maater-ln-Cbancery Sherman, an attempt being made to prove that he refused to deliver goods to struck houses because of a .secret agreement with
the strikers. He was a contrary witness, and all he could be got to say was that he refused because he wanted to avoid trouble.
