Kokomo, Ind., April 27. —The timely arrival of two carpenters saved Mrs. Alf Bogue and her 4-year-old son Cederic, from drowning in a cistern at their home in South Kokomo. The cistern was open and the little fellow fell in while at play. His mother heard the spash and went to his rescue. She managed to get down the wall until she could reach the child and hold his head above water, but was unable to ascend. Her hold upon the slippery wall was fast ghing way when the carpenters, who heard her shrieking for help, went to her assistance. She was exhausted when she was taken out. The child seemed little the worse for its experience. Mrs. Bogue says she could not have sustained herself a minute longer, and if she had fallen into the water both she and the child would have drowned.
