Sefferson City, Mo., Feb. B.—The 17th ballot of the joint session of the Missouri legislature to elect a successor to United States Senator Cockrell, failed to break the deadlock and the relative standing of the candidates was practically unchanged. Immediately after the jlbit session adjourned, the Republicans called a caucus to arrange. if possible, upon a compromise candidate for United States senator.
