Washington, Jsn. 20.—0 n behalf of the Woman’s Army and Navy League, Mrs. Josephine Kelton, widow of the late Adjutant General J. C. Kelton, has presented a petition to the senate committee on military affairs In the Interest of the re-establishment of so much of the canteen as permits the sale of beer at army posts. The petition was signed by 800 women, most of whom are related to officers of the army and navy, including Mrs. Chaffee. Mrs. Schley and Mrs. Sampson. Mrs. Kelton said the signers spoke from personal experience as to the effects of the canteen.
