President Continuous Conferring.

Washington, Jan. 10. President Roosevelt has had another conference regarding pending legislation. He consulted Representative Esch. of Wisconsin. and Townsend, of Michigan, both members of the house committee on interstate and foreign commerce, regarding proposed legislation respecting railroad freight rates. Both representatives are in favor of affirmative action on the subject by congress at the present session. The president also talked with Dayton of West Virginia on suggested reductions In the naval expenditures. to which reductions Dayton is opposed.
