County Sheriff O’Connor went to Logansport Tuesday and brought back Clara Redhouse, the 14-year-old girl that was sent to the asylum last August, and returned her to her parents at Demotte Wednesday. She is now well, and was glad to get back home. Joseph Rowen died at his home in this city last Friday evening, after a long sickness from cancer of the face. - -'. Archie Robbins, the high-diver who was so badly injured at the Monticello street fair in October, in jumping from the court house tower at that place, is still completly paralyzed in bis limbs and lower part of the body, and is unable to move himself in his bed except his head and arms. Larsh ie investing his overplus of cash in farm lands these days instead of putting it in banks, and has just purchased the former Tom Sayler farm of 103 acres west of town, paying therefor $65,80 per acre. The farm was owned by Wm. Vodder of South Bend, who gets $l,lOO over what be paid for the same two years ago. The $6,000 Joe lost in the McCoy bank would have gone a long ways towards buying another farm. The third annual Corn School, Stockman’s Convention and Home Makers’ Conference will be held at Purdue Univeresity, Jan. 23-28, 1905. This meeting is open to all, and farmers who can do so should avail themselves of the benefits to be derived from this gathering. A rate of one fare plus 25 cents for the round trip has been made by the railroads for those attending from Indiana points, to holders of certificates, which can be obtained from Prof. W. C. Latta, Lafayette,. Ind. If you intend going, write Prof. Latta for a certificate. The sale at John Bislosky’s Vest of town last Thursday was vbry largely attended and property brought good figures, in fact the sale amounted to about S3OO more than he was expecting. One reason for this was John advertised it veil, and did not begin to economize at the advertising end of the string. He got out 200 large bills and 500 small cards, spending about double for advertising what the average farmer does for this purpose. If it cost him $5 extra to do this and he realized S3OO more from the sale than be anticipated, was it not money well invested?
