THE FARMERS’ INSTITUTE.
Let Everyone Come Out to the Institute Here January 19-20. The fifteenth annual session of the Jasper county farmers’ institute will be held iu Rensselaer, Jan. 19-20, 1905. This institute promises to be one of the best ever held in the county. Special efforts have been made to get for instructors the very best talent obtainable and as a result of these efforts, we have secured four popular state lecturers who will give talks on subjects which they are especially prepared to handle. Prof. Mitchel, of Purdue, will be with us one day. Prof. Huston, late state chemist, will give one talk, subject, “Commercial Fertilizers;” Miss Erwin, of Bourbon, Ind., will be present the entire time. Mr. Burkhart is a speaker of national reputation. Will the farmers come forward and help us to make this institute a grand success? These “farmers meetings” are, by law, regularly established institutions of every county in the state. The people are taxed for their support and they therefore belong not only to the farmers but to everybody who wishes to attend them. So intimately connected is farming with every other pursuit, and so dependent is every calling upon agriculture, that in making special appropriations for these farm schools the state considers that money spent on them is money spent for the help and benefit of all. We farmers of this county have never attended these meetings as we should; we have never seemed to appreciate them as do the farmers of most of the other counties of the state. Whether we attend or not the expense is just the same and the instruction is given to the few as well as to the many. Let everybody attend that can. Committee.
