Janauschek, the one-time famous actress, is dead at the Brunswick Home, Amltyville, L. 1., aged 74 years. Friday, Deo. 2, Rev. Dr. Charles Wagner, author of “The Simple Life,” who has been lecturing in this country for two mouths, has sailed for France. Miss Alice Davis was hurt in a runaway accident at Marion, Ind., and it was then discovered that she bad been married to Benjamin Tudor, president of the Tudor Packing company. Queen Alexandra waa 60 years old yesterday. Governor-Elect Douglas, of Massachusetts. has offered General Miles the post of adjutant general of M. N. G. Earl Grey, who succeeds the Earl of Minto as governor general of Canada, baa sailed for his post. Tuesday. Dec. 6. It is rejiorted that another revolution has broken out in Venezuela. Republican agents who have canvassed the lodging bouse district of Denver declare that they have found 1,500 fraudulent votes cast at the last election. James P. Baxter (Rep.) was elected mayor of Portland. Ore., over Nathaniel Clifford (Uem.) by 1,027 majority. ~~ A moderate snow storm prevailed throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware and southern New Jersey. The ninth annual convention of the Seamen’s Union of America is in session at San Francisco. The official vote of South Carolina for president gives Parker, 52,823; Roosevelt, 2,271; Debs, 22; Watson, 1. Wednesday, Dec. 7. Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., have sailed for Italy. Rockefeller said be was going away to take a much needed rest. The provisions of the national bankruptcy law do not apply to the hotel business, according to a decision Hied at Cincinnati in the United States court of appeals. Three thousand persons, including many of the beet-known members of the theatrical profession, attended the funeral of Mrs. George Henry Gilbert, the actress, at New York.
