Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Church of La Junta, Colo., are visiting at Robt. Parker's. Max Price of Stonega, Va, spent Thanksgiving here, the guest of Miss Mary Peck. Mrs. Chauncy Landon and son of Chicago. spent Thanksgiving with Dr. and Mrs. H. Landon. Mrs. August Gleitz of Logansport, spent Thanksgiving with her daughter, Mrs. Dennis O’Connor. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. ippjnney of Goodland, spent Thanksgiving with Dr. and Mrs. H. R.Robinson. Stephen Yeoman of Indianapolis, ate Thanksgiving dinner with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Yeoman. Miss Floy Real, with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Dick of Watseka, 111, took in the world’s fair last week. The Thanksgiving foot-ball garde Between Remington and Gilboa high school teams, resulted in a victory of 12 to o for Remington. Recent births: Nov. 22, to Dan Rail and wife, southeast of town, a son; Nov. 22, to Charles Harper and wife, southwest of town, a daughter. Rev. Rogers has tendered his resignation as pastor of the Christian church here, to take effect Jan. 1, 1905, and has accepted a like position at Fowler Mr. Walter E. Baxter and Miss Ella Sharkey were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Fred Banes southeast of town, Thanksgiving night.

William Burns and Guy Beason of Valma, were Newland visitors Sunday. George Beedy and wife who have been visiting relatives in Illinois, returned home Sunday. Owney Callahan and John Halladay husked corn for T, M. Walters, near Lewiston, last week. Clyde Ruble, manager of the Bloom* ingtonPickle Co., was here on business a couple of days last week. Frances Hullihan and Arietta Stevens took dinner with Hale Grant and wife, near Valma, Sunday.

Omar and Carl Wilmington were callers at the Nelson residence in Walker tp., Sunday. Mrs. Jerome Nelson and family, Mrs. Zeigler and family of North Judson and your correspondent ate turkey at the Wilmington residence Thanksgiving. We are glad to announce that our friend W. O. Hinshaw of Croton, Wyoming, was united in marriage to one of the young ladies of that realm, Nov, 23. At present he is agent at Croton. We wish him a long and prosperous journey through life. • The masquerade ball held at the Triechel hail last Saturday evening was one of the best functions of its kind ever held in Dunnviile. The apparel of some of the dancers was the queerest product of the tailors and miliner's art that we ever hope to see. All in attendance had a regular old Santa Claus of a time. Valma Jim Longstreath is still working on John R. Lewis’ barn. All schools were closed for Thanksgiving, Wednesday. We are having some pretty cold weather at present. It begins to look like winter. Mrs. Wm. Potts is on the sick list, having fallen from a ladder and hurt her side. Quite a number from this vicinity took dinner Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lewis. Isaiah Duffey, of Indianapolis spent Thanksgiving with Miss Maude Walker of Rensselaer. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Nichols made quite a dinner fortheir children Thanksgiving. All reported a good time. Uncle Ad Kearns of near here, died at his home Sunday night, the cause of his death being lung fever. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tanner of Gifford spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Griggs, at whose home the latter’s mother is very sick. Say, Bert did get mad. No wonder Agnes was in such a hurry. Don’t get so vexed Bert; she didn t mean to do it, and hates it awfully had. Wonder what scared Charley out? Did he see so many pretty girls before he got to Payne’s he forgot to go on or is he afraid of ghosts and goes the other way? Dan Hopkins was seen driving up and down the road Sunday. We wonder if someone was lost? A sorrel horse went south; suspect he was looking for the driver of that rig. How about it, Viola? Say, Sim went some Saturday night but got a reward in the end. He got to see his best girl and bring home a token of remembrance, what he called the prettiest box of the season. Of course that was Blanche’s box. Misses Lu and Vi Reed and Sim Wells and Vick Comer spent Friday eve with Agnes Potts. One good event happened if the girls did go alone, the boys took pity on them and took them home. Hurrah for the girls that always win. Lu and Vi never knew what it was to be left.

Fair OaKs. Thanksgiving is all over and everybody is back to business again. Mrs, Cottingham and son spent Thanksgiving at Brookston with relatives. N'een Littlefield and family of Rensselaer spent Thanksgiving with relatives here. Winter weather set in last week with a few nights of pretty sharp freezing weather. Rev, Elam of Rensselaer preached a very able sermon at the Christian church Friday night. Miss Helen Zea returned to Remington Monday after a week's visit with her parents here, G. I. Thomas and wife went to Remngton Thanksgiviug to eat turkey and cn other business. The mask ball given at the Kesler ball was a grand success. Everybody enjoyed themselves and had a good time. Lawler & Thompson had a carload of cotton seed meal unloaded here last week to feed to their cattle on the ranci* near here. 8. B. Moffitt and daughter Iva and two sons, Clayton and Lewis, took in the St. Louis fair a couple of days the first of,the week. Albert Helsel and wife of the east part of the township were in’ our town the first of the week and purchased one of Charley Mallatt’s properties in the north part of town. We have not learned whether they will occupy the same or not. Following is a list of those that partook of the goose roast at Abe Bringle’s Thanksgiving: Mrs, Bruce Moffitt and three children; S. B. Thornton and wife of Sorgum Valley; Miss Maude Renicker from Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Miles Moffitt; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. L. Brmgid and Miss Edith and Enos Mofhtt; Miss Cristena Floch of South Newton. All had a good time and ate hearty. The Monarch Amusement company, which is being organized here, will soon be ready to start out on the road. They will be abundantly equipped to give the most complete entertainment that is out. They will be prepared to give over two hours of good, solid amusement consistting of nearly two thousand teet of moving pictures, also a fine lot of the latest and most up-to-date slide pictures,
with comic aongi and ilia ttration*. Everybody should avail themselves of the opportunity to see this show wherever they go, as it will be a grand treat. ,

Pleas't 'Ridge Emory Lowman, son of Alfred Lowman, is on the sick list. Strickiaden & Harmon are among the first to finish corn husking. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Harmon spent Thanksgiving in Rensselaer. Miss Essie Kendall attended teachers institute Saturday at Rensselaer. Miss Ethel Jacks from Rensselaer, visited her sister, Mrs. Len Lefler, last Friday and Saturday. Len Lefier purchased two horses last Thursday and contemplates farming on a large scale next year. Jim Morton of Watseka, Ill., is visiting his brother Frank Morton and looking after his farm near McCoysburg. There was a dance at L. A. Harmon's last Saturday night. It was quite well attended and every one seemed to enjoy themseives. Mrs. Ed Parkinson and daughter Martha and Mrs. Win. Parkinson and two children from Rensselaer, spent the day with Mrs. George Parkinson last Friday. Mr. and Mrs, Len Lefler spent Thursday afternoon with the -latter’s parents Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Jacks of Rensselaer. Mr. Jacks has been very sick with quinsy out is much belter now. Thanksgiving day was observed at school Wednesday afternoon. A progtam was rendered which consisted of songs and recitations. The visitors present were Mrs. Frank Kenton, Mrs. Leu Lefler and Miss May Lowman. -t Our large department store has again Changed bands. Clifford Parkison, the proprietor, has sold to Alfred Lowman who will take posssssion the Ist of January. Mr. Parkison will leave for ihe West with the intention of locating, if conditions are favorable. There is a great deal of shipping from this place. There were thirteen carloads of stock sent out Thursday evening, Thompson & Lawler shipped six car loads of cattle; G. Moody and Ad Parkison & Moody six car loads of cattle, and S. R. Nichols a car load of hogs.

Mrs. John Nichols gave a Thanksgiving dinner to about forty invited guests. Alt enjoyed themselves tine, partaking of the different kinds of eatables. Vick Comer, Simeon Wells, Lora and Viola Reed visited Agnes Potts Friday evening. The evening was well spent in music and playing different kiuds of games, and all seemed to enjoy themselves tine. Hurrah! for West 8., she has only one peer; that is C. 8., who has only one tear; her fear is this—and of course you know, that I am right in saying so—that Leap year is now so near past, all of her fair maidens will be left ajf last. Hello! D. V., I am glad that you are still amongst the living. As you stated some time ago that C. 8., had gone on a journey to Jerusalem, she wisdes to inform you that you was badly mistaken. Tine GroOe. E. P. Honan’s barn is about completed . Jay McMurry and wife have moved to E. P. Honan’s farm, near Pine Grove. Barney Newland and wife of Laura, took dinner with Jay McMurry and wife Tuesday. James Torbet and family spent Sunday with S. M. Hopkins and family of Cozy Palace. Maggie Torbet returned home Sunday after a week’s stay with Mrs. Geo. Cooper of Independance. Bluford Torbet is seen going northeast quite often. We wonder what the attraction is, Bluford? There was quite a good time at Independence Wtdnesday night. Miss Janie McCleary received the prize tor the prettiest girl.

Asphaltum Bert Linton and family took Thanksgiving dinner with A. D. Hershman’s. Mr. Oliver and Miss Dolhe Hersbman were home from Rensselaer Thanks-' giving. Chas. Voorhes of Flora, Ind., and Jas. Linton of Medaryvjlle called on A. D. Hersbman Thanksgiving. Frank Hershman received an injury from ditching which was very serious for awhile but he is now feeling better. There was preaching at the Christian church last Sunday, and a good attendance. Misses Grace Lowe and Sadie Oglesby were present, from Medaryville. We have a new barber shop in Asphaltum. Anyone who wants a shave or a hair cut or a shampoo, please call on Geo. Wilcox, who holds out at Wm. Stalbaum’s store. When one has lived in Jasper awhile, and tasted of its fascinating waters, they seem to impart an influnce which follows him. Mr. Stiers and family who moved from here to So. Dakota, are all back again, ready to make a new start in Jasper.
Mr. Harry Rouse and Miss Laverna Bradbury were joined in marriage Thanksgiving evening by Rev. Jno. Sebring of Medaryville, after which supper was served and all were made happy by the many good things which they had to devour. Many young people of the neighborhood who were invited were present, and all seemed to have a good time. The bride and groom received several nice presents.

A number of Lonely Valley people attended the sale at Schreiber’s Tuesday. David and Elmer Wesner of South Walker drove through this locality Monday. Quite a number of young folks attended the social at Oak Grove Saturday night. Mrs. Jas. Blankenship of Gillam, visited with relatives here Thursday and Friday. Lilly Karch of Rensselaer, spent Thanksgiving with her papa and mamma. Cecil Rutherford of Rensselaer, visited the last of the week, with Miss Rosa Callaghan. I had the pleasure of meeting "Sister Laura" Saturday evening, John thought the supper was all O. K., Miss Laura. Perry Hodge certainly has chickens the size of an elephant, for he bought 2xlo Dridge plank to build a chicken bouse.

Mr. and Mrs. John McGlinn and Mrs. John McGlinn, Sr., attended the stock show at Chicago this week. Madeline and Esther Philips of Rensselaer, returned home Monday after spending a few days with|Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blue. The dance given by the Modern Woodmen Thanksgiving night was the best of the season. They announce another ball, New year’s eve, Dec. 31.
