Maben, president of the Sloss-Sheffield Steel and ron company, saw fire oof the front steps and found a pickle hot* tie with a burning fuse attached. Theß fire was extinguished and an examinae tion of the bottle showed that it ccafc* tained a quantity of powdered dynas mite, the bottle being* sealed with al Wooden stopper, through which passed the fuse. There was enough dynamit® in the bottle to wreck the building. The man who found the bottle told the police that as lie approached tin® residence lie saw a wldte man running away from the step. A strike ofi union' miners is on at the mines of tha Sloss-Sheffiekl company, ns well as at the'mines of several other large corporations in the district, nml President MabeiYs company has been active in its efforts to break it. Maben will station guards around his house.
