Babcock, came to Rensselaer seven years ago and launched the Democrat with advantages decidedly against him for success. He immediately gained notriety by exposing the crookedness of the gang that was robbing the county of its funds, which eventually caused him more or less trouble. His perseverance and untiring energy won for him success and he now publishes one of the best county papers in northern Indiana.
