THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION.
Up to the hour of going t? press qo nomination had been made at the Democratic National Convention at St. Louis. The Wall street adherents led by Belmont, Hill, et al, are in control, and the prospects are that Parker, of New York, will be nominated, although the opposition thinks his nomination is doubtful, at least on the first few ballots. It was thought perhaps no nomination would be made for the head of the ticket until Friday evening, and that the convention would not adjourn until Saturday. The adoption of a platform was to be taken up yesterday, an d the nominations were to follow. A big fight was anticipated on the adoption of the platform, the Bel-mont-Hill faction being in the majority, it is expected will make a platform acceptable to the interests they represent.
Several names have been mentioned for vice-president, but it is doubtful who the nominee will be.
