OVERDRAFTS WRECKED BANK.
The Politician* Got In Their Hook* In Good Shape In Notes and Overdrafts. Assignee Chapman filed two schedules in the McCoy bank matter last Saturday. The first gives the list of notes remaining in the bank vaults and belonging in the bank. The face of all these notes (which we understand is unsecured) is $39,885.94. Of this amount probably not over SIO,OOO to $15,000 is collectible. We want to call the attention of our readers to some of these notes shown by the schedule to be unpaid. The cash found in vault was $449.26, and there were checks on other banks for $133.99, making the cash items of this particular inventory $583.25: There are four notes on Phillip Blue, each for $68.54, Three notes on H. E. Hartley, given in 1897, and aggregating $1,430. One note on H. B. Murray, S2B, given Dec. 31, 1900; due March 15, 1901. It will be seen from the above that the McCoys and Rinehart are interested in about SIO,OOO, or onefourth the entire amount. It ‘might be well enough for the creditors to ponder over the notes of the republican politicians, officeholders and ex-office-holders whose names appear above and in the schedule of over-drafts. Among the overdrafts scheduled we fipd the following: A L Berkley (T J McCoy’s son-ln-1aw)13,725 95 A G Hardy (sheriff Jasper Co) 717 80 Jasper Co Republican Cen Com 156 16 P B Meyer (republican postmaster)- 1,855 43 A McCoy (president of defunct bank) 86,591 66 T J McCoy (cashier “ “ a )152,548 46 A A T J McCoy. 4.330 82 McCoy, Son A Porter 16.733 37 McCoy A Tuteur - 1,375 39 T J McCoy A Delos Thompson 325 10 James McDonald 255 85 T J McCoy, acct Fry 579 33 S R Nichols, (rep county treasurer)- 1,202 55 A L Padgett 1,727 89 W A Rinehart (A Rush A Warren, contractors 2,188 63 Stock farm. .......25,556 65 The total of all overdrafts is $320,652.10, and of this amount the McCoys are interested in about $285,000. In addition to the above mentioned overdrafts following is the oomplete list. Quite a number of those whose names appear had money on time deposit in the bank and they will now have to pay the overdrafts in full and take their chanoes with the other creditors on their deposits: Alford Bros $ 98 E J P Alter 139 39 T E Alter 48 84 Elias Arnold 6 40 Elias Arnold, Tr . 46 96 W B Austin 14 95 Bales Lumber C 0........ 4 10 Everett Brown .. 33 68 Joseph Borntrager. 200 80 Geo O Bales .... 1 80 Babcock ife Hopkins 49 29 RP Benjamin.. 102 86 II L Brown 5 42 W W Burns 19 70 Clint Brown 101 77 Geo Borntrager 15 00 James Blake 8 00 C L Borntrager 10 00 W H Beam 93 11 Frank Borntrager 26 70 P W Clarke 40 53 BECaster.tr 500 Collection Act 90 00 B D Comer. .... 12 86 Wm Collins... T. J. McCoy has been rusticating at “Jerry’s” Island in the Kankakee all week, bat yesterday left from there for Chicago, where it is reported he will undergo an operation for apendicitis. The liabilities as shown by the bank books are nearly a half million dollars, as The Democrat predicted when the bank first closed. Of this amount deposits subject to check were, in round numbers, $16,000. and time deposits and amounts due other banks reach $325,000. The individual debts are not all known as yet, but they will be no small item. Duvall Bros, have a lien of $42.15, and one of $l5O against two of the horses, and Omar Morlan filed a lien of $36.75 and $32.50 on three others of the horses. The assignee will pay said claims out of the proceeds of the sale of said horses, on order of the court. These leins are against the T. J. McCoy horses which are to pe sold to-day, and are for feed, care, etc. The inventory of the personal property on the McCovsburg farm, owned by A. McCoy & McDonald, was filed Thursday. In addition to the farming tools, wagons, etc., there are 62 head of cattle, 12 sheep and lambs, 7 head of horses, three mules, 50 tons of wild hay, 20 bushels of timothy seed, 300 bushels of corn and 610 bushels of oats. All this property will be sold by the assignee. Brighest, busiest, beat carpet section in town; aee us for right patterns and right prices. Rowles & Parker.
