There had been a business transaction between Mr. Finch and a friend regarding a canary. When Mr. Finch became the proud possessor of the little yellow creature he had not unreasonably expected it to bnrst Into song at intervals.' But nature has not been so kind to feminine canaries as to the sterner sex, and, in spite of every encouragement, birdie refused to carol.
