Items of Interest Gathered In the Offices of the County Capitol. Commissioners’ court will convene Monday. —o — To-day is the last day for filing mortgage exemptions. —o — Next Monday is the last day for paying the spring installment of taxes to avoid the penalty. The viewers in the Iroquois ditch fijed their report Tuesday. They have been working over a year on the report. The county board of education will meet here next Monday to report on school numeration and transact such other business as may be brought before it. —o — Marriage licenses issued: April 26, Edwin Mergrath to Margaret Zimmer. April 26, Frank L. Yeoman to Emma Myrtle Bringle. April 26, John 8. Fox to Mary H. Wiltshire. —o — Little has been doing in the circuit court this week. Following are the more important matters disposed of: State vs. Delos Thompson and John charged with obstructing a highway near Roselawn; indictments found to be bad and case dismissed. Dolph Day was granted a divorce from his wife, Ellen Day, whom he married only a few months ago, on the grounds of abandonment. Lester Hawn, of Remington, was granted a divorce from his wife, Selia Hawn, on the grounds of abandonment. —o — The county commissioners will hold a special session to-day to appoint “Charles C. Warner clerk and to accept his bond. Mr. Major will turn over office to Mr. Warner, having served four full years. He has made a popular and efficient officer, and leaves the office with the respect and good will of men of all parties. He is undecided as yet when he wiir leave for his new home in Virginia, owing the $3,000 of his funds being tied up in the McCoy bank. -S o New suits filed: 6665. Simon P. Thompson, et al, vs. George W. Pixley, et al; action to reopen Lakin ditch matter. No. 6666. John P. Gwin vs. James M. McDonald ; notion for an accounting. No. 6677. Henry O. Harris and Joseph C. Harris vs. Samuel R. Nichols, treasurer of Jasper county; petitition to be released from defendant’s bond. No. 6668. First National Bank of Rensselaer, Ind., vs. Benjamin M. Preble, E. E. Preble and the Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville Railway Co.; injunction. The complaint avers that defendants are indebted to plaintiffs in the sum of S6O on a note and chattel mortgage, and that defendant is about to leave the state with said property. The goodß were attached after being loaded in car, and the case is returnable May 7.
