SOMETHING SURELY KILLED

Bat Chicago Police Don’t Know Whether It I* a Human Being or a Beast.

Chicago, March 18. The police know that something has been killed and thrown into the north branch of the Chicago river, but what it is they have not yet found out. A large amount of blood has been discovered on the snow on a wild country road near where it crosses the north branch of the Chicago river. An investigation showed that a desperate fight had taken place around the blood stains, and that there were prints of shoes of two sizes in the snow.

From the place where the snow wbb roughened, and where the greatest amount of blood was found, the trail led plainly to the bridge over the stream. Pieces of tissue resembling brains were found along the rood, and there were splotches of blood at frequent Intervals. Dragging the river has not so far developed anything.
