ALL’S QUIET IN WALKER.
Esq. Joel F. Spriggs was down from the wilds of Walker Thursday. Owning to an injury to his foot, caused from a sled running over it a few days ago, Mr. Spriggs walked with a decided limp. The Squire sent a young couple —Mr. Clarence Loughry and Miss Elsie Lewis— on their way rejoicing, equipped with one of his guaranteed marriage ceremonies, Dec. 24. The other day a man swore out a warrant for the arrest of a man over in the oil district, charging him with assault and battery on the person of the latter’s wife and attempt to kill. He had, it was stated, not only hammered his wife but bad broken up all the household furniture and raised h in general- Squire Spriggs issued a warrant but before the constable got over there the man had left for Chicago. The wife wasn’t making much noise over the disturbance and would have not appeared against her husband—said he always acted that way when drunk. So no revenue forthcoming in the case.
