Quaker Paraphrases.
A book on Nantucket contains some stories that are well known to lovers of the good old town, but may not have been widely repeated. One of them hangs on the Quaker custom of numbering the months and the days of the week Instead of using the profane mythological names. A Quaker schoolmaster set this copy on the blackboard for his writing class: Beauty fadeth noon. Like a rose in sixth month. It wss probably the same man who read to his scholars about Robinson Crusoe and his good man "Sixth Day."
