IMMIGRANTS FACE STARVATION.
Parties In Montana Snowbound In Tents with'Nothing to KnU Word has been received from the Trout creek district in Montana that there are several parties of immigrants along the Spokane road in the west end of Missoula County snowbound and on the verge of starvation. In one party near the Idaho border la a family of five snowed up and withont provisions or money. The family la living in an eightfoot tent with the snow up to the wagon bed, unable to get out or secure food for the stock. Three other immigrant parties are reported along the trail snowed up in the passes and all in a precarious condition. Efforts were made to send out relief parties. As result of deep snow and extremely cold weather throughout Montana heavy sheep losses will result. Reports from Sweet Grass County say the blinding snow has scattered sheep over mountains and lowlands into sections where not a vestipe of rood can be found. Two bands of shtep belonging to Veasy and McConnell got away from their herdera and are scattered in the hills. Wild animals driven from mountains by snow and cold are raising havoc with stock. The temperature is from 20 to 25 degrees below zero. E. Heinrichs, a German farmer living near Palmer, lowa, was frozen to death. Heinricha was driving home from Mason when the team ran into a ditch, throwing him into a pool of water. He waa frozen before reaching home. Not since 1881 haa it been as cold In November in New Orleans as it was Thursday with the thermometer registering 80 degrees. Intense cold prevails in the sugar region. Henry O. Williamson, Jr., was elected president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at the national convention in session at Syracuse, N. Y. The Dawson Board of Trade has demanded that the Canadian government subsidise tiie All-Canadian Railroad fee offset the boundary decision.
