THE PROPOSED CARNIVAL.

We understand that the carnival promoter, mention of whom was made last week, was in the city again last Friday night and ones more took up the matter with the K. of P’s- regarding the bolding of another Bacchanal revel in Rensselaer. We are told that the matter was disoussed to some Extent at the last meeting of the lodge and it was left with the Castle Hall association to do as they pleased regarding the matter. For the good of the city and the community at large it is hoped that no carnival will be held. With the “turn downs” the carnival people have had this season — very few towns that have had one experience caring for another — should one be held here, all the scum of the carnival followers wduld flock here, and it would be a hundred times worse than the one held last year, And that could hardly be classed as a Sunday school picnic or a promoter of good morals or good citizenship.
