CARNIVALS OF CRUIE.
The “business men” of Monticello want to have a street carnival, while the preachers and moral element protest against it. Tbe “business men” come back at the preachers and say that the sort of carnlvel they propose to £'ve will have no objectionable stares whatever. We have never heard a carnival proposed bnt its promoters made precisely the same claims, and we have never heard of one being given bat gambling and immorality ran riot. Carnivals, gambling, immorality, and all ita concomitants are synonymous, as the bettor element of every town that baa experienced one of them can testify.
