Ar*<! Man Who Attempted to Kill His 800 for on Act of Disobedience. CrawfortLsville, Ind., March 19. Ills flowing gray locks and the weight of 75 years are all that kept Irenue Booher, a farmer north of Crawfordsville, from going to the penitentiary. Last week Booher became enraged at his 16-year-old son because the boy used a saddle contrary to orders, and. seizing a shotgun, the old man threatened to shoot the boy. He was prevented from carrying the threat into execution by liis wire and duughter, who, by force, restrained him until help arrived. Filled with remorse, the old man fled to the woods and stayed there until cold and hunger drove him in, and his arrest followed. Booher was permitted to plead guilty to the charge of assault and pay a tine of $25 and costs. They Tried to Kan the I’lace. Terre Haute, Ind., March 19.—As a result of a gun tight in a saloon at Ehrinandale a miner named Kearns is dead, John is family woundid, and two others seriously hurt. Seven miners entered the place conducted by Angel Rough and Nick Gararorin and tried to clean, out the place. Rough defended himself with a revolver and when pressed closely seized a shot gun and ran from the saloon followed by the men. He fired at them as he ran. These Be Bright Youths, Too* Marion, Ind., March 19.—Charles Cecil, 13 years old, and Harry Wilkinson, aged 12, were arrested yesterday on a charge of attempting to wreck a train near here Saturday night. The story hold by Cecil Is that a crowd of boys secured iron rails and placed them on the track, and then hid under a bridge nenr by to watch the train jump off. Big Thing* Arc Expected. Whiting, Ind., March 19.—1 t is reported here that the Standard Oil company will spend $3,000,000 in enlarging its refinery here*. The company, it is said, has bought a strip of land about a mile long, and about SOO people living on the tract have been dlrecli'd to move at the expense of the company by May 1. Ha* Too Many Wive*, Also. Fort Wayne, Ind., March 19. Arthur It. Chisholm, who was cashier of the Unit 'd States Express company here, has been arrested at Grand Rapids, Mich., on tlie charge of embezzling S6OO from the company. Two women also say he married them.
