Jasper County Democrat, Volume 5, Number 50, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 21 March 1903 — ABOUT THE LIBRARY LOCATION. [ARTICLE]

ABOUT THE LIBRARY LOCATION.

While the location of the Carnegie library near the school buildings would no doubt be of general satisfaction, the difficulty iu this is to procure a suitable lot, even though the money to purchase same were available. Most people ( seem to think that it should be located “where it can be seen.” and for this reason favor the location on the flatiron strip of ground on North Division street, mentioned by The Democrat lastrweek. This location is said to bo favored for this reason by several of the prominent aristocrats of McCoy avenue. It is on the principal street leading to the depot and would therefore be seen by the traveling public entering or leaving Rensselaer. From what information we can gather this location seems to be the most popular one mentioned, for the reason above stated and the fact that it already belongs to the city and may be had without any expense whatever.
