THE SMALLPOX SITUATION.

The smallpox situation in Jasper county may be summed up as follows: There have been 34 cases altogether, all in Union township and in the families of Bruce Moffitt, Wm. Hopkins, A. M. Harriott and Daywitt. The quarantine has been raised on all except the Daywitts, in whose family thero are now five cases. No deaths have occurred unless it be that of an infant child of Bruce Mollitt’s, which was born during the time the family were afflicted with the disease, and Health Officer Washburn thinks may have been caused therefrom. No new cases have developed this week and it is thought the disease will soon be stamped out. *ln White and some other neighboring counties there are several cases of the disease and great precautions will be taken to prevent a further spread in this section of the state.
