MRS. GEORGE C. MAHLE. Washington (Ill.) Post: The death of Mrs. George C. Mahle at her home in this city last Monday at noon cast a gloom over the community. For a number of days she had been hovering on the border land, and it was the universal hope that she might remain with us to care for her little ones. But Providence willed otherwise and after a brave struggle she succumbed, aged 25 years, 8 months and 8 days. The cause of her demise was pleurisy. Susan M. Gangloff was born on a farm 3>£ miles north of town on April 14, 1877. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gangloff, who now reside at Rennselaer, Ind. On March 15, 1899, she was utmt-d in marriage with George C. Mahle. From this union three children were born, Francis aged three years. Charles 1 year 8 months, and Paul A. &■ months, who, together with her heartbroken husband, survive her. She also leaves six sisters and three brothers, all residents of Indiana, except one sister iu Peoria, as follows: Mollie, Lizzie, Dena,. Laura, Ti'lie, Eda, Andrew, John and Clement. Mrs. Mahle was a model wife and a good woman. She was greatly loved and respected in this Community where she had lived all her life. The sympathy of the whole community will go out to the stricken family who could so little spare the mother at this time. The funeral was held from the Catholic church Wednesday morning, Father Fennan officiating. Many relatives and friends were present to show their respect to th- deceased. MRS. D. J. HUSTON. Goodland Herald: Died at her home in Goodland, Dec. 23, at 4p. m., Mrs. D. J. Huston. Catherine M. Winship was born in Dearborn county, Ind,, Sept. 26, 1831, was converted and united with the Haw Creek Baptist Church when she was about twenty. She afterwards moved to Taylorsville. Ind., where she was married to D. J. Huston, Sept. 4, 1861. She was the mother of two children. The older, Mrs. Elizabeth Kendall, died a little over two years ago. The other, May, is a teacher in the Goodland High School. Three stepsons survive her: Dr. C. N. Huston, of Hamilton, Ohio; W. C. Huston and J. F. Huston, of Jasper county; and one sister living in Baroda, Mich. Her last illness began February last and through the summer became much worse. The final decision of the attending physician was that the disease was cancer of the pancreas, tor which medical aid would do little. Although gradually failing, it was not thought that there was any immediate danger until Sunday night when hemorrages of the bowels began and continued until her death, Tuesday afternoon. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday, Dec. 25, at 2 p. m., Rev. H. F. McDonald officiating. Her last words were those of an unfaltering trust, and she passed peacefully out of the life of suffering into the richer life beyond. She has lived the Christian above reproach, was a loving wife and devoted mother, not only to her own but to her stepchildren and orphan grandchildren, who with the aged husband mourn her loss.
