SHORTEST RAILWAY IN WORLD.
Track la Narrow Gauge and Runs for About 3,000 Feet. Without doubt, the shortest complete railway system In New York, probably In the country, Is the little pleasure line running along the boardwalk at Rockaway Beach. s The entire system comprises about 3,000 feet of track. The line Itself Is sbmewhat shorter, however, since a good deal of the mileage, or footage, of tho track Is as It Is, the system Is complete in every detail as far as the roling stock Is concerned. There are at present two locomotives In active service and six day coaches. Each locomotive has its regular tender attached. One of the switches of the western terminal Is provided with water pipes for filling the boilers, writes the St. Louis Star. Tho employes comprise two engine drivers, one for each locomotive, and a ticket agent at each terminus. During the rush hours on busy days a policeman or two may be called in to assist In handling the crowds at the stations and keeping the tracks clear.
The little road Jnfiy handies hundreds of passengers over its 2,000 feet of route,The cars are arranged with two seats back to back, running lengthwise. A train of three or four cars is switched to a siding at the terminal and is allowed to fill up while the other train is on the line. The line is single-tracked, and it is scarcely necessary to state, narrow gauge. When the track is- clear the tiny locomotive toots merrily, the little bell rings out a warning for no one in particular and the train dashes down the line at the breakneck rate of four miles or so an hour.
There are plenty of people who have become depressed and discouraged, because that dry, hacking cough hangs to them continually. They have taken much medicine, mostly of the advertised quack sort, nothing like Dr. August Koenig’s Hamburg iy-enst Tea, the discovery of a then noted German physician (JO years ago. We do not say that this will cure a case where the lungs are badly diseased, for it will not, and up to this date there is nothing that will cure under these conditions; hut on the other hand, If the lungs are not hard hit, the patient chould take I)r. August Koenig's Hamburg Ilreast Tea, a cup full every night on going to bed, have it hot, drink slowly, then every other night, rub the throat and top portion of the lungs with St. Jacobs Oil, cover with oil silk, let it remain an hour, then remove. Eat good, plain, nourishing food, live in the open air as much as possible. By all means sleep as near oht of doors as possible, that is. windows wide open, except in very severe weather. Take a cold sponge bath every morning; then immediately rub the body vigorously with a coarse towel. Take Dr. August Koenig's Hamburg Drops every other day according to directions. One can buy the three remedies for $1.25 of any reliable druggist. Begin the treatment at once, and see how much better you will be almost within a week’s time.
