Payne Introduced a resolution for a holiday adjournment from Dec. 20 to Jan. 5. Washington, Dec. 9.—ln the senate yesterday Quay had read resolutions adopted by an official body in Indian Territory opposing tlu* committee statebood bill. All the committee changes In the Immigration bill were adopted, except one prescribing the educational test, and another permitting the sale Of liquors in the Capitol, which last (was passed over for the time being. X number of pension bills was passed. An executive session was held, at which all the recent diplomatic nominations were confirmed. Washington, Dec. 10. The senate devoted most of yesterday to the immigration bill. An amendment offered/ by Burton of Kansas to admit Chinese laborers to Hawaii met with considerable opposition and finally was laid on the table. The provision prohibiting the sale of liquor In the Capitol was not stricken out. An executive session was held. After debating the London dock charge bill for almost four hours the house chopped Its head off by striking out the enacting clause. This killed the bill, which had been deserted by the packers and lumber men.
