In a pistol fight near Pollock, La., Lovell Wainwright was shot and instantly killed and Joe Wade was fatally injured. Fire in Henderson, Ky., destroyed Lambert & Son’s grocery and Pierson's dry goods store. Loss $50,000, insurance $35,000. Harvey Logon, the alleged Montana train robber, has been given ten sentences, aggregating 130 years, at Knoxville, Tenn. It is estimated that Mississippi will market 1,500,000 bales of cotton this season. The conditions were just right for a very large top crop. In Knoxville, Tenn., tire partially destroyed the stock and business house of M. L. Ross & Co., wholesale grocers. Loss, $75,000, covered by insurance. J. E. Blackburn. State food commissioner of Columbus, Ohio, will locate a truck and fruit colony of Ohio farmers on n $5,000-acre tract he has purchased at Theodore, Ala. A portrait of President Lincoln will be placed in the Mississippi Hall of Fame. The picture was furnished by Robert T. Lincoln of Chicago in response to a request, and will be placed alongside that of Robert E. Lee. A sackxif mail containing $14,000 in drafts and checks from the internal revenue office at Danville, Ky.. and $S),000 in bank cheeks and drafts, besides registered letters from various parties, was stolen or lost between the Danville postoffice and the depot, or on the Cincinn; ti mail train.
