POETRY GONE TO SEED.

Newton County Citizen: We have all along insisted that it was our opinion and the opinion of the bar in both Newton and Jasper counties that Mr. Hanley was not sufficiently learned in the law to make a first dassjudge, but we see our mistake. We have a copy of the poem (?) published in last week’s Rensselaer Republican framed and hung up where we can read and reflect on the gentleman’s virtues as proclaimed from that beautiful, melody. We have been captured by the muse. We confess it and promise never to speak again in disparaging terms of a candidate’s ability. No, never. Just put the muse to sleep, Bro. Marshall, and let her sleep.
