Jasper County Democrat, Volume 5, Number 34, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 29 November 1902 — AS IT SHOULD BE. [ARTICLE]
AS IT SHOULD BE.
A special dispatch to an Indianapolis paper states that class yells, class colors, class meetings, class flowers and other class insignia, not in books, have all been ruled out of the Anderson high school. The school trustees have all taken a stand against all class affairs of the kind and hereafter students will give their time to study. Over four hundred students are affected by the action of the school authorities whose instructions will be carried out by J. B. Pearcy, principal of the high school. He says class colors have always been a source of trouble, and by ruling them out of the school, other class annoyances will disappear. The football team is dismayed by the ruling. It is left without a color, and nothing is left for it to do but carry a flag on the foot ball field. See our line of shoes, new styles and lowest prices. Laßue Bros.
