Captain Guthrie was greeted with good audiences at each of his three meetings last week in this county—Wheatfield, Remington and Rensselaer. The meeting here was in the opera house and was exceedingly well attended, considering that it was a day meeting and the fact that the weather was glorious. He treated the issues in a pleasing a,nd convincing manner and held the close attention of his hearers throughout. Capt. Guthrie is one of the most interesting speakers that ever occupied the plafform in Rensselaer.

It has become the custom for boys, and some older persons, too, to tear down sale and other bills that have been posted up about town. This is a dangerous practice, for the tearing down of any public bill or advertisement is a misdemeanor, punishable by fine, and some of these days someone will be made an example of. Parents should speak to their children about this matter and, as/for the older persons, if they have not got sense enough to know that they are doing a wrong, the sooner a few of them are hauled into court and made to pay a fine, the better it will be for them.
