THE COMMON COUNCIL.

The city council met in regniar session Monday with all members pres- • W. H. Eger et al presented a remonstrance, against the Plum street sidewalk ordered at the last meeting. The matter was referred to the street committee and the city attorney. An ordinance for the improvement of Clark street was adopted and the contract will be let November 10th for a macadam street. The street committee was instructed to confer with the property owners in regard to a sewer through the alley back of the city power plant. &. The superintendent of the water and light company was instructed to ask the Parke County Coal Co. for prices on a new belt needed at the plant. The treasurer made a report for the month ending October Ist, showing balances on hand as follows: Corporation land, 9725.66; road fund, 954.44; water fnnd, 1875.01; electric light fund, 1861.16; other fhnds same as last report. Joseph Schofield asked tor a reduction of water rental at the Hildebrand livery stable. Referred to water committee. An ordinance for a sidewalk on Milroy street south of Washington was adopted and bids ordered advertised for the contract to be let November 10th. The committee on public property was directed to investigate the matter of new coal sheds at the city power plant. * The city attorney was directed to draft an ordinance relating to the storage of oil, explosives, etc. The purchasing committee was instructed to purchase a docket for the use of the city judge.
