COMMISSIONERS’ COURT.
Following is a report of the proceeding’s of the October term of commissioners’ court: Bridge petitions continued: 2 in Wheatfield, 1 in Gillam, petition of J. N. Price et al, 1 in Kankakee, 3 in Carpenter, 1 in Remington, 1 in Keener, 1 in Milroy, 2 in Jordan. Contract awarded Pan American Bridge Co., at $545 for new bridge in Carpenter; also, Attica Bridge Co., for bridge in Jordan at $458; and Winamac Bridge Co., for removal of bridge in Gillam at $172. The matter of construction of approaches to bridge in Marion tp., was continued. Gillam gravel road matter was continued; also, matter of costs in cleaning the Union Lakin and Scott Cooper ditch; Granville Moody ditch; petition for acceptance of gravel road in Marion tp.; claim of White county of $732.25 for changes of venue; claims of Burt-Terry Stationary Co., of $9.75 and $43.75; petition of A. J. Bellows for abutments; claim of Thomas Florence for $204, expense of gravel road; Jesse Nichols, petition to condetn gravel pit; S. B. Moffitt ditch.
Contract for election supplies was awarded the Burt-Terry Stationery Co., for SBO. In matter of damages to Angelina Walters, the auditor was directed to draw warrant for $75 in part payment of damages awarded at such time as petitioners furnish receipts for balance of damages awarded. The petition of W. M, Porter for the admittance of Myra Porter to the state school for feeble minded was favorably acted upon, said W. M. Porter to pay $2 per month toward maintenance of said child.
In matter of South Barkley gravel road, petitioners file motion to refer reports back for amendments, reports to be re-filed on or before Nov. 1. Final reports were made and approved in Geo. W. Warren ditch; Sophia Chilcote ditch; Balthazar Brown ditch; Fred J. Saltwell ditch. In the John~W. Hutchinson ditch petition, petitioners file motion to set aside viewers report and appoint other viewers; sustained, and S. T. Comer, Charles Harrington and L. Strong appointed, to meet at Virgie, Oct. 20. In the W. W. Burns ditch .matter, George Parkison, Nathan Eldredge and Frank Lakin appointed viewers, to meet Oct. 20. Sidney B. Holmes ditch, reviewers file report modifying viewers report; approved and ditch ordered established; final report to be made Oct, 20. David Miller petition for highway, road ordered established. T. F. Maloney declined to serve further in the Iroquois ditch matter, and Albert Foster of Lowell was appointad in his stead. Notice ordered in matter of deepening the Union Lakin ditch. C. D. Lakin ditch ordered established and final report made Oct. 14. In matter of cut-off in Carpenter’s creek, contract awarded to James Bullis at $560, carpenter tp., to pay $75 of this. In matter of petition of C. C. Randle et al for gravel road in Hanging Grove tp., election ordered for Nov. 4. The total length of the proposed road is about 7 miles, and the estimated cost is $1,554 per mile. This is for a road 10 feet wide and 12 inches of gravel in the center and 4 inches at the outside.
Ditch petition of Charles Otis was dismissed on motion of petitioners. Elias Arnold petition for abutments to Moore bridge; trustee ordered to go ahead with work and county to pay costs in excess of $75. R«port of grand jury approved on changes in heating system at jail, and repairs ordered. The voting place for west precinc t of Carpenter tp., was changed to south room of corner house owned by Henry Mullen. Robert Parker et al ditch, J. M.
Wasson, James T. Randle and R. B. Harris appointed viewers, to meet Oct. 15. Surveyor directed to prepare specifications for cleaning Marble lateral to Wheatfield ditch. Joseph Nissius, petition for ditch, in Jasper and White counties. David Gleaspn, M. Delehanty and I. W. Warren appointed viewers, *to meet with White county viewers Oct. 15. Moses Sigo ditch, Jacob May, James Clowry and Reuben Crain appointed viewers, to meet Oct. 20.
