Kx-Queen Secretly Marries Kseosuro. Her Master of Horse. A dispatch from Madrid tells of a grave scandal in the royal family. It is asserted that King Alfonso’s mother, recently regent of Spain, has morganatically married Count Escosura her master of horse. During Maria Christina's recent visit to Austria King Alfonso learned of tlie affair and took the queen to task concerning it on her return. A violent scene ensued, which ended in a peremptory order to the queen mother to leave Spain. Thus far Maria Christina has refused to obey her son’s order and sensational developments are expected. Maria Christina, ex-queen regent of Spain, was born July 21, 1858, and was

the second daughter of the late Archduke Charles of Austria. She married Nov. 29, 1879, Alfonso XI!., King of Spain, ns his second wife. Upon his death. Nov. 25. 1885. she was appointed regent, noting ns stfch until the accession of her son, Alfonso, to the throne recently. The young king was born May 17, 1886. The war with the United States was a severe blow to the queen, who was prostrated by the reverses to her arms and the loss of her foreign possessions.
