HE HAS A RECORD.
The Lafayette Call says that Charles Lane, the man who is supposed to have entered the room of Delos Thompson of this city, at the Lahr House at Lafayette carnival week and stolen a valuable diamond pin, is a noted diamond thief and is wanted for a diamond robbery at Washington, D. C., where he jumped a §2,000 bond last December. He has a long criminal record and in° 1889 was sent up for grand larceny for three years at Fort Madison, lowa, and has been arrested numerous times for diamond robberies. No trace of Lane has been x secured since Mr. Thompson was robbed.
