; A new oil well has been opened at Chyrryvale, Kan. The University of Kansas now has 1,077 graduates. William Dement Lent of New York, author of "Halcyon Days” and other books, died at his summer home at Norfolk, Conn., aged 60 years. Naval Constructor Richmond P. Hobson delivered n lecture before the Chautauqua Assembly at Winfield, Kan. His subject was "The American Navy; Its Traditious aud Victories.’’
