Another evening paper is to be established soon in St. Joseph, Mo. Miss Maude Hood, 21 years old, waa drowned in a near Nardin, O. T., while bathing. The President and Mrs. Roosevelt will â– pend the greater part of the coming summer in Washington. White Horn, Colo., was practically wiped out by lire. Two persons were badly burned and the loss is placed at $25,000. Growers of cantaloupes in southern California have arranged with the railroads to market some pf the product in the Eastern cities. A small riot was attempted in the Missouri penitentiary on account of the quality of the meat furnished in their morning hash. It was reported in Washington upon high authority that Senator McLuurln of South Carolina had been offered and had accepted the position of Judge of the United States court of claims, to fill the vacancy gternsloncd by the death of Judge John Davis. Tom F. Wood a well-known cattle dealer of Springfield, Mo., was drowned at Forsythe Mo. Wood was in a rowboat fishing on the White river with a friend and in some manner the boot capsized and both were thrown into the water. The other party succeeded in swimming to shore.
