THRESHERS ORGANIZING.
The unprofitableness of the thresh ingbusiness of late years has led to the organization of a National Threshers Union, with branch orders all over the country. Most of the counties of Indiana have organized and a move in that direction has been started in Jasper county and the names of over twenty threshermen secured. This ouly leaves out some five or six, we understand, and it is expected to get their names as soon as they can be seen and the true object of the organization is properly presented to them. The organization is not for the purpose of raising the price so much as it is to secure a uniform price, we understand, and it is the intention to raise the price but slightly, if at all. The object is to fetter the condition of the threshing business by cooperation and to form n.mutual insurance company to insure threshing machines. None of the old line insurance companies will now insure them, we are told, and as a machine is occasionally burned up it is quite a serious loss to the owner. It is hoped to benefit both threshermen and the farmer by this organization, it is said, by working for each others interest. White. Carroll and Benton counties have already organized, and the call for a meeting in this county appears elsewhere in these columns
