Residence of the Chinese minister has been transformed into an ideal oriental home by Mme. Wu. Government will probably enaet laws providing for the control of wireless telegraphy in time of war. The Senate committee has reported favorably on the proposition to grant a pension of $5,000 n year to the widow of President McKinley. The Senate has confirmed the following nominations: Thompson B. Ferguson, to l»e governor of Oklahoma, and F. V. Martin of Indiana, to be commissioner of immigration at San Juan, Porto Hico. Subcommittees of the House banking and currency committee hare been appointed to consider what financial legislation is necessary at thia session of Congress. Asset banking currency is not likely to be favored.
