A general increase of 14.5 per cent I* indicated by a statement of the postal receipts at the fifty principal postofficea for the month of December, 1901, compared to the corresponding period for 1900. The aggregate I* $5,137,310. Chicago reports the greatest proportionate advance, 22.8 per cent, the total at that office being $783,094. New York advanced 16.7 per cent am?
