SOME COLD WEATHER.
Last Friday a warm rain fell nearly all day, changing to sleet towards evening and to snow at night. During the day it was most too warm for an overcoat, and to wake up Saturday morning to find the window panes encrusted with a thick frost, the ground covered three inches degp with snow and the mercury about 4 degrees below zero was a general surprise. The sudden and almost unparalled drop in the temperature could hardly be realized. It caught quite a good many town people unprepared, and the coal and wood dealers enjoyed the first rush of the season. Sunday morning was even colder, the mercury standing about 15 degrees below and remaining about zero all day; Monday morning it stood at about 10 degrees below; Tuesday at about 5 below; and Wednesday slightly below zero. Thursday was a little colder, 5 below. Yesterday morning it was 4 below and the weather bureau’s indications were for continued cold.
