A. J. Ropp was here this week threshing clover. O. M. Garriott shipped a car ioad of sheep Tuesday. David S. Alter is putting in the foundation for his new residence. J. E. Alter has just about completed the ditch on the Butler farm. W. 1.. Wood and wife went to Cedar Lake Wednesday on business. Mrs. Mattie McCianahan visited Mrs. James McCianahan this week. Chas. Lakin and Tom Brusnahan shredded their fodder this week. Frank Bruner of Rensselaer, is now helping Dr. Kirk to fill out physic prescriptions. Mrs. Wm. Chilcote of Minnesota, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Robert Stephenson, for a few days, It has been reported that the Steel farm, i l / t miles north of here, was sold io some Illinois parties. Ellis Jones of Remington, was on our streets this week. He. owns a 160 acre farm east of here, the old Alter farm. Alva Stephenson and S. A. Brusnahan went up to Shelby Tuesday on a hay measuring tour 011 the Brown ranch. There will be three more houses built in Barr before winter if present arrangements are carried out. They are Newton Brice’s, Jesse Sheffer's and Allen Buck McCurtain’s. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Martin have the entire sympathy of their neighbots in the loss of their 2>< year old daughter, Audra. She was a bright and sensible child. She was laid to rest in the Brater cemetery. Evert Warne of this place, visited Jack Hoys last Sunday. They got back a little late, and while in the barn with the lantern, fire caught in the hav and there was a bustling time for awhilt. But the fire was extinguished before any damage was done.
